For 51 years the Woodburn FIESTA MEXICANA has been a pillar festivity that not only celebrates the Latino community in Oregon but the local businesses and community members of the Willamette Valley. This year, the Fiesta that takes place August 2nd through 3rd will have an updated feel, thanks to our Lead Sponsor, University of Oregon.
Founded in 1963 and originally an “End of Harvest” Fiesta for migrant workers in Woodburn, the FIESTA MEXICANA has grown into one of the premier heritage events in Oregon. In fact, it was named the Best Cultural Event in the state by the Oregon Festival and Events Association in 2010.
The Fiesta includes delicious Latino food, live music and entertainment, a plaza for kids and family activities, authentic handcrafted art and much more.
Thanks to the University of Oregon and our other generous sponsors the Fiesta Committee is able to create a celebration with a bang. “We are proud that the University of Oregon recognizes the value of our Fiesta,” said Ruby Wolfer, Fiesta Coordinator, “and is pleased that their financial and upbeat support allows us to provide more value for our attendees and community.”
The University of Oregon is not the only business joining in the fun. Additional sponsors are: Pure Health Chiropractic, Silverton Health, Walmart, Kaizer Permanente, Salem Health, Oregon Health Authority, H & R Block, Children’s Institute, and US Bank.
“We’ve already generated five times the amount of sponsorships this year over last year,” said Wolfer, “and this is due to the hard work of Anthony Veliz of IZO Public Relations & Marketing, a boutique size agency that specializes in Hispanic marketing. This reiterates that the Woodburn Fiesta with its rich history and thousands of attendees is recognized statewide as a valuable asset for promoting your business.”
This year’s live entertainment was arranged by Armando Gonzalez of Mandos Mundo Entertainment.
